16 Killed in Suicide Attack in Pakistan - New York Times [getdailynow.blogspot.com]
Question by Badkitty: How to politely deny a "out of state" friend's request to visit for the weekend / several days at my home? We live near the ocean and often get out of state company coming just to visit. It is clearly not our company they are seeking but free lodging near the beach. I don't want to offend, hurt, or even disturb when they invite themselves to my home. What is the best way to let them know not to come without always having to say we won't be home? Best answer for How to politely deny a "out of state" friend's request to visit for the weekend / several days at my home?:

You can tell them that it is not a good time for a visit -- or you have been so busy you aren't prepared to accommodate visitors.

You are not obligated to house people! If someone asks if they came come over, just let them know that you are not available for houseguests at this time. If you are up to it, suggest a different date (perhaps when you are out of the house).

First of all, it's rude for people to invite themselves to your house - especially for days at a time! Politely inform them that you cannot accomodate houseguests at this time and suggest a few local hotels. If you like, offer to meet them for dinner one night they are in town. They'll get the idea.

Hmm. something like you don't have the room. If you have a spare room make it into something else like a study you work from or a home gym. . If its the couch they are after say something like.."we love seeing people but we are so busy at the moment and don't really have the room for people to stay over. You are welcome to visit when you are in the area though. We would love that! Will even cook for you!" Yeah that should do it. If someone said that to me I would feel fine. I mean its not personal and you are happy to see me and will cook me yummy food. Whats to be unhappy about.

Pakistani men help an injured blast victim at a hospital following a suicide bomb attack in Peshawar on Saturday.
Azam Khan, the top government official for home and tribal affairs for Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province, said the explosion at the Firdous Arms Market killed mostly local tribesmen. The market is in the semitribal frontier town of Darra Adam Khel, south of Peshawar, the provincial capital.
The target of the attack was not immediately known, Mr. Khan said, but it is generally believed that the bomber was aiming at pro-government Afridi tribesmen who have been fighting Taliban-affiliated groups in the area.
Darra Adam Khel fell under militant control about three years ago and was cleared by an army operation in 2010. But militants affiliated with Tehrik-i-Taliban, known as the Pakistani Taliban, continue to target government officials and their allies, and have also attacked minority sects. Districts near Peshawar have seen a spate of bombings in recent weeks.
