PARIS â" Â Anti-racism activists, Gypsy musicians and others have gathered in European cities to protest violence and discrimination against Roma and celebrate their culture.
Dozens of people participated in the "Roma Pride" event on Paris' Left Bank on Saturday. Organizer Benjamin Abtan said a march was held in central Prague, and there were conferences in cities from Bulgaria to Denmark.
He said "we are a demanding a Europe-wide fight against racism and discrimination" and "to celebrate the diversity of Gypsy culture, which is an integral part of European culture."
The events come amid tensions in France over what to do about makeshift camps of Roma in cities nationwide. Police routinely clear out the camps. Residents in the southern city of Marseille recently burned down a Roma camp after blaming them for burglaries.

Question by Bork: What does it mean "before the foundation of the world" (non-mormon perspective)? Our Sunday School lesson next week is on Epesians. While reading it, I became curious about verse 4: Ephesians 1:4 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love What is the non-Mormon Christian perspective on this? I now how Mormons interpret this - what does this mean to the non-Mormon? Specifically, what does it mean "before the foundation of the world"? Best answer for What does it mean "before the foundation of the world" (non-mormon perspective)?:

It refers to before creation. Conceptually, it means that God planned for us before he planned for creation, and creation was made specifically with us in mind.

The foundation is the bottom or beginning part of anything. If you don't have a good foundation it won't keep what you want to build standing up very well. When the scripture talkes about us being there before the foundation of the world it means that even before God started creating the earth the way it was going to be he had us in his mind and heart to be created and formed as be his kids. God always was and that is hard to imagine since we don't think that way being that we are born and we die but he never was born and will never die and he created everything. It will baffle everyone at sometime in their life... how can God always be there, but because he is he created the heavens and put the angels in it to serve him but wanted more. He wanted children so he thought and planned for his children before he made the world for them to be on and he started with one m an named Adam. The problems was that even before he finished creating the world for Adam to live on Luciffer decided to sin in heaven and stole the praise from God and took a third of the angels of heaven on his side to accomplish that. God made war on Luciffer and the Archangel Michael cast him out of heaven and he was flurled onto this earth. At that time the earth was not ready for man but fashioned a garden in the earth and put the man he created in it. He gave some direct orders to man to live in that garden and that was "To be fruitful, multiply, SUBDUE and replenish the earth. There was only one being on this planet to subdue and that was Luciffer and Adam chose to disobey God and not subdue him so as it says in Genesis 3 he allowed Eve to be tempted by this demon and she was deceived by this serpent as Scripture calls him and once she took the fruit and ate it she gave it to Adam who also ate it and sin entered the garden and eventually the entire world.

It means before God created the earth, before He created Adam and Eve, before they sinned, God decided to send Jesus to the earth to die for our sins. God created Adam and Eve knowing their sin, and the sins of all their children and grandchildren, including us, would lead directly to the cross. If God, knowing how much Adam and Eve were going to cost Him, created them anyway, does that not say that we have a significant reason for being on earth, a reason more than just eating and sleeping, going to work and dying into nothingness? His creating us knowing we would lead to His Son's death on the cross means there is great value in human life. If human life is valueless, why then did He create beings He knew would cause His Son's death and temporary separation from Him as our sins attached to Jesus on the cross?
