It's like the saying "class" or "team". They have many people within them, though they are refered as singular. Same with this case...

The "sin" is the symbolic sin from the narrative of Adam and Eve where they ate the fruit of "disobedience" and from there on mankind has rejected it's own creator. Jesus' sacrifice bridged the gap and brought us back. Thanks for asking.

Oh, well one can say 'sins' to denote pluralization, but when using sin as a general category, it is appropriate to use it in the singular form. Sin of the world includes all sin found in the world. Remember, please, that your English translation of the Bible is just that - translated. The original languages worked completely different. The Greek that the above quote was originally written in did not have the same criteria for pluralization, so just figure that the scholars who did the translating were pretty much up on thier plural and singular forms of words, my friend.

Sin is rejecting God's Law. God's Law is made up of 10 Commandments. If you break one of the Commandments, you have broken the Law (not the laws). Violating one commandment breaks the whole Law.

Remember how sin came into the world. Eve and Adam disobeying God. What caused this disobedience? It was pride. Read Gen. chapter 3 the pride before the fall. Jesus then came to take away the sin of pride which causes us to sin against God. Whenever you want to see sin present watch the first word used: it is I.

go to yahoo and Matthew Henry its a commentary and look at John 1:29 for your answer (give a man the answer he might be ok with it, but you give him the tool in which to look it up and he can see it for himself)

The only real Sin is the separation from God and our rebellion against Him. Jesus, as the Lamb of YHWH was sacrificed and created a bridge whereby Man can be reconciled with God. He died for our Sin, not our sins. Accepting Him brings about a relationship with the One True God.

Sin in this case is the "original sin" that was committed by Adam and Eve at the beginning of creation. This is the sin that came upon them for disobeying God by eating the fruit of the tree that they were instructed not to. Their sin became our sin as we all are now born into a sinful world. Jesus came to take away "the sin of the world", which is death - the wages of sin.

CAIRO â" Â An international rights group has urged the panel writing Egypt's new constitution to amend articles in the draft charter that it says repress the rights of women and children and limit freedom of religion and expression.
Human Rights Watch delivered a letter with its appeal to the constitutional assembly Monday.
It says the draft upholds some political rights, but doesn't prohibit torture or trafficking in women and children. It says it also threatens equality between women and men. The group says some Islamists are also pushing for a legislative role for a religious body.
HRW's appeal follows an outcry from progressive groups who fear Islamists are dominating the charter's writing process. The draft constitution may be ready next month and put to a public referendum within 30 days.
