Israel's parliament has gathered for a vote to dissolve itself and hold early parliamentary elections.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week said he would order new elections, months ahead of time, because the parliament could not agree on a new budget. Lawmakers are expected to vote Monday in favor of Netanyahu's proposal to hold a vote on Jan. 22.

In a speech to lawmakers ahead of the vote, Netanyahu listed his accomplishments and urged them to approve his call for a new vote.

"In less than 100 days, the people will decide who is going to lead the country," he said.
