For those interested in signs and symbols, events will soon provide meaning to the tropical downpour unleashed from the heavens just as Hugo Chávez stepped up to the podium to give his closing campaign speech on Thursday.
Was he being blessed with âholy waterâ, as some of his followers claimed, or was it a bad omen, an expression of the wrath of God, as his enemies preferred to interpret the rainstorm. The result of the elections on Sunday will tell.
Certainly, more of the same kind of unrelenting rain on election day itself would be an unambiguously bad thing for the populist president, as it could make it harder for some of his poor voters living in slums to go out and vote.
Indeed, with polls showing that the race has been getting increasingly tight â" the incumbent seems to maintain the upper hand, but momentum favours opposition candidate Henrique Capriles â" itâs going to be all about turnout. A high turnout will favour Chávez.
Polls also suggest that there is still a significant chunk of undecided voters (or at least people who donât tell the whole truth to the pollster) so that polling statistics are too murky and contradictory to draw any strong conclusions.
Given that the result will be a major event for holders of Venezuelan debt â" although it seems that the gains from the rally that would be likely to follow a victory for the business-friendly Capriles are larger than the potential losses if Chávez wins, since the risk is already âpriced inâ â" investors have been forced to make educated guesses.
But there are local conspiracy theories in opposition circles in Caracas that some banks have actually been talking up a Chávez victory simply to make a tidy profit. By convincing people to sell, those who âknow betterâ will snap up the debt as they stand to make significant gains.
So ignore these scheming Wall Street bankers, some in the opposition say â" our man Capriles will win. This is looking like an increasingly possible scenario, but based on the available information the race is simply too close to call.

Question by Tiffany Wilson: What can I do about my family retaining my children from me until I meet certain "clean house" conditions? What can I do about my family retaining my children from me until I meet certain "clean house" conditions? They say its dirty, I say its not. I also say that I'm 27 and my family needs to butt out of my life before I kick them out for good. My children belong with me. And I'm very close to calling the police and filing a report. Best answer for What can I do about my family retaining my children from me until I meet certain "clean house" conditions?:
Answer by Clarence
if you tuly believe your house is clean then you've got nothing to be worried about, go ahead and contact who you need to in order to get your children back where they belong. it does sound drastic though for them to have taken your kids away, just try to prove you're not what they think you are.

well it really dosent matter what you say becuase if they say its filthy then it probably is. if you love your children then you would do whats right gor them. its not about how you feel anymore. clean your house please children need their parents

First off...your family has no right to take your children away from you and you have every right to go get them back. If they have a problem with your cleanliness and are concerned with the welfare of the children, then the proper channels should be followed and they should file a report with whatever government agency that deals with the welfare of children (I'm not sure what country you live in) But, if your family thinks you have a cleanliness issue then maybe you should take a step back and really look at your surroundings. Perhaps there is something there that you refuse to see. I cannot see a family member removing children from the home if there isn't an issue with something.....just because you THINK its clean, doesn't mean it is and it is suitable for your children.... Kids need a healthy clean environment and don't need to live in filth so stop thinking about things in respect to yourself.... Rethink things honey through your childrens eyes.....is your house really clean enough for your kids or just clean enough for you in your opinion?

You probably need to clean your dang gone house! Children learn from their parents and if you are filthy your children dont have to be exposed to your nasty habits. I guess you can tell I dont really care for a dirty woman since I had a child with one and I took him from her for the same reason..She wasnt trifling while we lived together but after we seperated she lost her damn mind. 11years later she is still nasty. Clean yourself.. Have a little pride.. Set a good example for your children
