Syria has announced that Turkish civilian planes will no longer be allowed to fly over its territory.
The move comes just days after Turkey intercepted a Syrian flight, claiming the plane was carrying Russian-made munitions for the Syrian army.
Syria's foreign ministry announced on state TV that that the ban would take effect from midnight on Saturday.
Tensions have been rising between the two countries after a series of cross-border incidents.
Last week, there was several days of firing across the border after five Turkish civilians were killed by Syrian shelling.
Turkey's government has backed the Syrian opposition and called for the resignation of President Bashar al-Assad.
Syria's foreign ministry said the decision to ban Turkish flights in its airspace was in retaliation for a similar move from Ankara.
Turkey has not announced such a ban, although it has said it will continue to ground Syrian civilian planes it suspects are carrying military cargo.
