Question by : How does "sin in the world" lead to catastrophes? When something like a tsunami kills tens of thousands of people, and survivors and interested parties ask how God allows this, and there is no obvious way to blame it on "free will", the pastors and the "Christian Apologists" say it is because of "sin in the world". So I ask, how exactly does sin in the world lead to a tsunami? Is sin like an electromagnetic force field that scrambles everything up so it doesn't work right? Is sin like a toxic fume that keeps God away so he cannot keep watch over his creation? What exactly is the mechanism by which sin causes natural disasters? Best answer for How does "sin in the world" lead to catastrophes?:

Answer by Which seat can I take?
There is no correlation between sin and tragedies. Start thinking science instead of fairytales. In case you haven't noticed, earth has a little something called plate tectonics. Plates shift. Earthquakes are inevitable.

It doesn't, but it enables christians to rationalize the world around them. Frankly, their religion does the same thing.

there is a spiritual infrastructure within creation. there is an internal judgment... for example if you place your genitals in someone's butt the chances of contracting something putrid is higher than if not. person A has sex with person B without protection and the internal judgment is an std. or if you rob a bank or kill a person, you invite the police to remove you from society. the Bible says the creation is groaning and the creatures are groaning. this world has been marred. God said let man subdue the earth... but look around you people are returning to the dust. the garden has become a wilderness and it is dominating you and i. the ground is shaking beneath us because it is broken.

"We do not understand everything, but one day will find out. God is no in a hurry nor owe it to us to explain everything. Just believe... and that is called Faith. That takes strength. Just believe" according to Christians.

Catastrophes are a result of mankind being out of step with Nature and the laws that govern all living things. There is enough of everything necessary for us to care for everyone. But for a lot of people there is never enough. When we go too far outside the law of nature. The Creator sends us a warning.

For the first time in a long, long time, a Democrat is running for president and has the clear advantage on national security policy. That is not "how things are supposed to be," and Republicans sound apoplectic about it. But there is a reason ... Thomas L. Friedman: The world we're actually living in

Vandals scribbled anti-Christian graffiti on the outer walls of one of Jerusalem's best-known churches early Tuesday morning, Israeli police said.

Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said the perpetrators defaced a wall leading to the Church of the Dormition. The century-old structure is built on the site where tradition says the Virgin Mary died.

The graffiti, which read "Jesus, son of a whore, price tag," had already been removed by midmorning, said Rosenfeld.

He says police are still searching for the assailants, though suspicion has fallen on a fringe group of pro-settler Jewish extremists who have carried out similar vandalism on churches, mosques and Israeli army property. They say the acts are in response to what they consider pro-Palestinian policies by the Israeli government, a form of retribution they call a "price tag."

Tuesday's graffiti is the latest in a wave of vandalism on Christian holy sites in Israel. Israel has about 155,000 Christian citizens, less than 2 percent of its 7.9 million people, but the repeated defacing of their sacred sites has shocked the country and drawn official condemnation.

"Price tag actions go against the morals and values of Judaism and do great harm to the State of Israel," said President Shimon Peres, speaking at a meeting with one of Israel's chief rabbis during a celebration of the Jewish festival of Sukkoth. "It is forbidden to harm the holy sites of religions and faiths," Peres said.

Church officials have said mere condemnation is not enough. In an interview with the Associated Press last month, one of the church's top officials in the Holy Land, the Rev. Pierbattista Pizzaballa, called for action.

"It's important not just to condemn, but also to work, to take initiatives to stop this phenomenon," he said.

The Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land posted a statement about the latest incident on the website of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, saying it was "distressed" with the vandalism.

"This is reminiscent of the graffiti sprayed in the Abbey of Latrun one month ago. Jesus is once again profaned and signed "price tag," a characteristic mark of Israeli extremists," the statement said.

Shortly after Israel evacuated an illegally built West Bank settler outpost last month, vandals burned a door and spray-painted anti-Christian graffiti on the century-old Trappist Monastery in Latrun, outside Jerusalem, with the words "Jesus is a monkey."

In response, the church's top officials issued a "declaration" urging Israeli leaders to take action. Nearly a month later, no arrests have been made.
