Question by Chotsii: Should I "decline to state" on my college applications? I always hear that colleges want to mix up the amount of different ethnicities in their schools. I am white and I am afraid that may play a roll in whether I am accepted or not. Do you think it would be better if I put caucasian on my application, or should I "decline to state" my ethnic backround? Best answer for Should I "decline to state" on my college applications?:

It doesn't matter. They're not going to look at your application and say, "Oh, she's white. She can't come here." Otherwise don't you think there would be a lot more whites not in college and a lot more minorities there? It's purely for statistics as schools like to know who their demographics are for who is actually interested in them.

YILIANG, Yunnan, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- One more body was retrieved on Friday afternoon, bringing the death toll in the landslide in southwest China's Yunnan Province Thursday to 19.

YILIANG, Yunnan, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Eighteen primary school students have been confirmed dead in a landslide Thursday in quake-hit Yunnan Province in southwest China.
As of 2 a.m. Friday, one villager was still missing and another one seriously injured in the disaster, said a spokesman with the Yiliang county government. Full story
