Shops in the Iranian capital's main bazaar have mostly remained shut Thursday, a day after riot police clashed with protesters upset by the plunge in the nation's currency, the rial.

Witnesses said only a few shops were open and that police were patrolling the area in central Tehran.

Shopkeepers shut down their stalls Wednesday as police fought with protesters and arrested money changers.

The rial has lost about a third of its value this week.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has rejected growing domestic criticism of his policies amid the slide.  He blames the plunge on what he called "psychological pressure" by Iran's enemies.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Wednesday that international sanctions on Iran over its suspected nuclear weapons program have had an impact. But she said Iranian leaders and their decisions that have nothing to do with sanctions are responsi ble for Iran's economic problems.

She said the sanctions could be remedied in short order if Iran is willing to work sincerely with the international community on its nuclear program.

Iran's Fars news agency quoted Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani this week as saying he believes 80 percent of the country's economic problems are linked to government mismanagement.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP and Reuters.

Question by Hoekom Jy My Haat: US: Does offering "in state" College tuition to illegals encourage them to break the law? Already existing US Immigration rules require illegals who have been living here as children to self deport before reaching the age of 18 years, six months. If they are caught here after that time they incur the 10 year ban upon returning. Doesn't offering "in-state" (reduced) tuition encourage and enable them to circumvent established regulations, causing them to knowingly break immigration requirements. For every illegal in college, there is one real American who didn't make it. Best answer for US: Does offering "in state" College tuition to illegals encourage them to break the law?:

Answer by Busta
Yes, and it encourages me to move to a state that wastes less on my tax dollars.

Answer by bobby
its called liberalism ,a brain disorder with no know cure and the stupid democrat taxpayer's go right along with them

Answer by Meh
It absolutely does. Kind of ironic. A perfect examples is 3 questions above this one. You can see this admitted illegals progress in thinking with their last two questions: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtdFLOP3SbdvgQWVvIExGSjsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20110426220836AA6llma http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhUvY.ZGgatTaTDF6skJU.WmDH1G;_ylv=3?qid=20110427122359AAmH9Wp And it is all due to in-state tuition.

Offering an illegal services that are reserved to legal residents/citizens will most certianly encourage 'them' to break the law. Remember, an illegal is breaking the law simply by being in the USA, so it makes no difference what they do here, they are criminals.

Answer by Rod
Of course it does. It's just another insult heaped upon the law abiding American Citizen.

Answer by Ha Ha
You know it does. We should not be giving these invaders any education at all. Starting from Pre-k up, all children and their parents should be checked for status before enrolling children in any school.

Answer by George L
No, not really, since there's no reason to believe their parents entered the US illegally to get in state student fees for their children. It doesn't do anything to discourage them either. Their ability to get a decent job after graduation should do that though. Edit: I'd have to say that I disagree with your observation that somehow higher education is a zero sum game for students in US schools. that might be true at the most prestitgeous schools like Harvard or Yale, but it absolutely is not in most schools, especially at the community collge level. Universities are big business and most will accomodate as many customers as they can attrract.

Answer by Biting Commentary
Why not give green cards to people who apply to come here legally, stay in their own countries as long as necessary and who pay for the deportation of an illegal so they can legally take the place of that illegal?
