Question by Acid Zebra: Why hasn't the number of exorcisms skyrocketed as the world "gets worse" as apocalyptic Christians say? I mean "wars, rumors of wars, and earthquakes"? Really? Those things go on all the time. Why not an increase in supernatural manifestations of evil as this world "slides further into sin"? Shinigami: interesting. Do you have a source? I think the increasing number of exorcisms (if that's even true) is directly proportional to the increase in popularity of Reality TV... and for the same reason. People are stupid.

well, it did dude. I looked up the stats a few months ago when I was really into the exorcism thing. Between the 60s and the 80s the number of exorcists increased by 100Xs. yet the number of priests per capita is declining. (actually, I'm still into it. I find it fascinating. We are in a very precarious spiritual position as a whole)

Because most of the initial demon posessions have been targeted on exorcists, so there are fewer people around who can perform the service. The Pope himself was an early target for demonic posession. Actually, they got to him several decades ago, shortly after he became leader for the Inquisition.

IDK what christians say, but I also say that the world is worse, because people make it worse, not because someone is watching them and punishing them. Exorcism wouldn't be relevant in this case.

Actually the number of exorcisms has gone up. Not just the Catholic ones. There are New Age, pagan, Buddhist, Muslim, Protestant, etc exorcisms. Father James LeBar, exorcist for the Archdiocese of New York, said he has seen a "large explosion" in cases since 1990.

Yes they do go on all the time...the bible describes them as birth pains, which come in frequency as the end gets closer. No hope without jesus. God loves you.....

As we enter the end times the prophesies of Jesus in Matthew 24 will become more apparent in their fulfillment. One reason that exorcisms do not greatly increase is because even church people are growing increasing ignorant and apathetic. I am not an apocalyptic Christian, but you might consider me one.

Most Holy Norton, Sophos etc screen out the majority of demonic entities before they can manifest themselves in the material plane. Pity those poor buggers who lived in the olden days.

Demons are not fallen angels but are the past life energies of the dead brought up out of sheol (complete sleep) by those who break God's word and practice the occult. Because the living have power over the dead when these past life energies are brought up and they possess someone the possessed suffer because the dead are not able to repent and change they are unable to deal with present Life and also if they were evil and died evil and terrible deaths the possessed will experience the same kind of emotions they experienced at their death. Unless one repents they will curse their self and everyone else that listens to them. There are no fallen angels the Devil was Cain the first murderer and liar in the bible and his angels are his offspring who prove who they are by murdering and lying. There have been a couple of the descendants of Cain referred to as the devil because before God there is no time and all seeds are one before Him. One of Cain's descendants was also a priest in the temple and he was the one who tempted Jesus. Angels cannot temp anyone because they do not have flesh and do not know temptation. Satan which an angel of the LORD some times is used to test (not tempt) so he was sent by God to test Jesus in this flesh and for that reason he used a descendant of Cain the Devil

British police say they've arrested a 23-year-old man and his 18-year-old sister on suspicion of having terrorism-related documents.
Officers said that the pair was arrested Thursday morning in the Small Heath area of Birmingham, 120 miles northwest of London.
West Midlands Police, the local force, says the arrests were planned ahead of time and weren't made in response to any threat to public safety. They say they have seized a number of computers and other electronic devices.
The force gave few other details. British law criminalizes the collection of information "likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism," for example bomb-making instructions, unless the person has a "reasonable excuse."
