Hold that hot water! Often times back pain is caused from inflamation and applying heat will cause it to become even more inflamed and painful. Think of when someone gets a black eye and it's all bruised -- the first thing they do is toss a cold piece of meat or ice pack on it to bring down the swelling. Your back is very similar. As someone who has had a herniated disc for over seven years, I understand pain and the only thing that relieves it is laying on my belly with an ice pack on the hurt area for ten minutes. I try to do it at least once a day when my back starts to hurt. At one point I was bedridden for a month because of lower back pain (I'm only 23 btw) and I went to a chiropractor who began each session with icing my back. That's how I learned that it works. She told me never to use heat.

Take a wet washcloth and put it in a ziplock baggie and place in a freezer until frozen.(an hour or so) put that on your back You may need several for the area you have. RICE rest ice, compression ,and elevation.

probably lay on your back on the floor then pull your knees up and rock this may stretch your back

If u don't want to be on pain meds then HOT SHOWER and some Advil, it's a inflammortary!! Good luck!!!

With my degenerated disc Ice doesnt help. In fact, it hurts it even more. I do find that laying on a heating pad does help. The doctors that I go to say that it is ok. They told me to do either Ice or Heat whichever feels better, So figure out what feels better and use that.
BERLIN: Turkey's Europe minister Monday called on Europe to do more to help his country tackle the more than 100,000 refugees fleeing the conflict in Syria, accusing the bloc of being fixated on its debt crisis.
In an interview with German daily Die Welt, Egemen Bagis said: "Europe should start thinking about the people who have fled Syria into Turkey."
"Europe is in a state of paralysis. There is no progress because it is completely fixated on the euro crisis," he added, referring to the three-year financial difficulties that have plunged many eurozone countries into recession.
The Turkish disaster agency AFAD said on Monday that the number of Syrians fleeing the conflict in their homeland and seeking refuge in Turkey has now reached 100,363.
Bagis spoke as EU finance ministers met in Luxembourg to ramp up pressure on Syria and also Iran over its disputed nuclear programme.
In September, the European Commission announced an additional 50 million euros ($ 65 million) in humanitarian aid to help civilians caught up in the violence.
That brought the total available from the Commission to 119 million euros and the EU's contribution in all to 200 million euros, or half of all international help offered at that point.
But Bagis demanded more, telling Die Welt: "Europe has to help people who need a safe haven. It's time for Europe to finally help out."
The United Nations estimates that more than 2.5 million people have been affected by the fighting. There are more than 348,000 Syrian refugees registered in neighbouring countries, but many more are unregistered.
