KINGSTON, Jamaica â€"  Wildlife advocates are calling for a popular tourist attraction in the Cayman Islands to halt the farming of sea turtles.
The Florida-based Sea Turtle Conservancy has joined the London-based World Society for the Protection of Animals in a campaign to stop the government-funded Cayman Turtle Farm from farming green sea turtles.
Conservancy director David Godfrey said Thursday that "it's time to turn things around" at the roughly 40-year-old facility.
The turtle farm says it follows internationally accepted and humane animal husbandry practices. It says over 31,000 yearlings have been released into the wild. Some are harvested for meat.
The Cayman farm touts itself as the largest land-based attraction on the islands, attracting more than 500,000 visitors a year. It features a lagoon where visitors can swim with green sea turtles.

If this was kept a secret then what urgency would there be to fix it? By reporting this, the people who are in charge of what is wrong have an incentive to fix the problem. If they don't fix it and the problem still exists a year from now, then remove the person in charge.

It's not wise in the slightest. It's just another way of exploiting our weaknesses to known and unknown enemies. The problem can be fixed without advertising. Fire the people in charge and let the new staff know how serious this is.

Who said the media was smart? They are definitely not on "America's side" of this war on terror. Not when one of the leading "talking heads" (Dan Blather, ex of CBS infamy) said that he would not hesitate to reveal information harmful to the U.S. if it were news. The so-called "mainstream" media do NOT hesitate to reveal America's weaknesses to our enemies in the name of "news."

Great question, I have often thought the same thing myself..like yesterday in the news saying 19 airports were tested to see if weapons could be taken through security. And all 19 failed! Why not just advertise, hey terrorists, the security people at most airports are paid like $ 6.00 ph..and don't really give a s**it!!
